More Laid-Back Heroes: Will Stanton

Will Stanton from The Dark is Rising series (the books) is a great laid-back hero. He is the youngest (and the seventh son) of a large and boisterous family. Despite his family stating that Will is mature for his age, his demeanor and appearance are entirely non-heroic. 

In The Greenwitch, when the Drew family meet Will, they see him as dull with a kind of public-school-boy niceness that will mess up their holiday. He comes across, in essence, as a kind of Joel Murray: friendly, a tad daft, entirely innocuous--

Aside from the great power that he wields and an understated sense of irony.
