Still, I haven't yet reached the magnificent heights of my student who, writing about fear of animals, referred to a "fear of loins."

Hmm, a little Freud anyone?Kate Woodburyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06276977170991272672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9721761.post-77420536335594760032008-07-16T13:18:00.000-04:002008-07-16T13:18:00.000-04:00"throws of passion"?Hmm, that does sound like a di..."throws of passion"?

Hmm, that does sound like a different type of romance novel.

Still, it's an interesting review of writing and recommendations. Not that medieval romance can't be done--as the marvelous Ellis Peters proved. But the dialog and expectations and historical misinformation usually make me grit my teeth, especially when the characters speak "forsoothly"--they didn't sound historical to each other!

To be fair, I think historical fiction is incredibly hard to write which is why I write fantasy--it's easier just to make up one's own world (where people can speak however they like)!Kate Woodburyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06276977170991272672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9721761.post-14379819759115927292008-07-15T10:01:00.000-04:002008-07-15T10:01:00.000-04:00Hullo.I just had to say that this post made me gri...Hullo.
I just had to say that this post made me grin delightedly. So, this post made me grin delightedly (except for the comment about Medieval times being a low ebb of civilization, but other than that it sounds like an incredibly amusing book). Thank you.marshymallowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06640254083946558428noreply@blogger.com
