It does come off as slightly slick in some places, but the story-telling is so high and so consistent, I now think it rates as one of the best seasons X-Files did!

And I do think "Drive," "Agua Mala" and the truly bizarre "Milagro" have a lot of the grittiness of "original" X-Files, and I absolutely adore "Triangle," "Dreamland," and "Rain King" (and who can forget "Arcadia!").

Having said that, my absolutely favorite X-Files episode of all time is still in Season 4: "Momento Mori." I think "Momento Mori" is the quintessential Mulder-Scully show. And I happen to like voice-overs :)

By the way, X-Files is one of the few shows where I actually memorize the episode titles. Usually, I'm going, "Um, it's that one, you know, where Scully tells Mulder about her cancer, and there's clones and the clones say, 'Because they're our mothers,' and I just start bawling."Kate Woodburyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06276977170991272672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9721761.post-79260803551687039792009-03-14T05:22:00.000-04:002009-03-14T05:22:00.000-04:00Hmm, I'm a huge X-files fan, but I only started wa...Hmm, I'm a huge X-files fan, but I only started watching it the last two years. Strangely enough, I like the sixth season the best (mostly because I like the funny episodes the best). I'm such a cop-out! But yeah, I see how people might not like six and seven. The grittiness is gone. I mean, the show moved from Vancouver to L.A., after all. And the conspiracy episodes weren't as great after the movie...

But I agree with you. If you're going to like something, like it. Who cares if it's mainstream? Yes, I will admit that I read the Lord of the Rings books AFTER the first movie came out. That didn't lessen my enjoyment of them, though.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9721761.post-1155418424851813832006-08-12T17:33:00.000-04:002006-08-12T17:33:00.000-04:00More Chris Carter material worth watching from the...More Chris Carter material worth watching from the short-lived Millennium series: "Covenant" (season 1 disk 4), one of the better "Mormon" movies (well, a television episode). "Somehow Satan Got Behind Me" (season 2 disc 6), a darkly funny tribute to The Screwtape Letters. And "Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense" (season 2 disk 3), a hilarious setup of Scientology, with David Duchovny showing up (uncredited) on a poster in an obvious Tom Cruise reference.Eugenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03182644885948983861noreply@blogger.com
